The University of Lausanne (UNIL), through its Department of Oncology (UNIL-CHUV) and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, is a cornerstone of the European ADAPTMET initiative. Led by Prof. Johanna Joyce, a world-renowned expert in the tumor microenvironment, the UNIL team is dedicated to uncovering how cancer cells adapt to diverse tissue environments during their spread. Beyond her laboratory’s research into tumor cell plasticity and epigenetic mechanisms, Prof. Joyce serves as the Chair of the Training and Career Development Board for the entire consortium. In this role, she oversees the growth of 16 doctoral researchers, ensuring they receive the multidisciplinary mentorship and technical expertise required to become the next generation of global leaders in oncology.
